Suncoast Music Scholarship program dates are set for 2022

The 2022 Suncoast Music Scholarship competition is set to go, and information about applying to compete for a total of $10,000 in awards is now available online. Application forms and information sheets can be downloaded from websites hosted by  Suncoast Music Scholarship partners: Sarasota Music Club and Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota.

Music students who live in Sarasota or Manatee County are eligible to apply for an audition to compete for the following: Scholarship awards for students in grade 12 are: $3,000 for first place; $2,500 for second place; and $2,000 for third place. Awards for students in grade 11 are: $1,000 for first place and $500 for second place. Scholarships open to students in grade 10 are: $600 for first place and $400 for second.

The scholarship funds are to be used for music education, including tuition or fees for summer music camps or private instruction, instrument purchase or repair, or other authorized expenses.

Applications for this year’s scholarship program must be received by 5 p.m. on April 1, 2022. Auditions will be held on Saturday, April 23, at First Presbyterian Church of Sarasota. A May 14 concert is planned at the same location, featuring 2022 Suncoast Music Scholarship winner performances.

Suncoast Music Scholarship partnership has offered music scholarships for area high school students since its founding in 2016. To date, the program has awarded over $100,000 in scholarship funds to promote and support music education.
